Adam Flint

European Patent Attorney & Chartered UK Patent Attorney
Adam studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University where he specialised in physics, with additional studies in mathematics, chemistry, metallurgy and crystalline materials.

Adam has always had a fascination with invention and how things work and, following his university studies, knew a career in intellectual property was his calling. This was inspired in part through knowing that Albert Einstein was a patent examiner at the Swiss Patent Office when he developed his several original breakthrough theories.

Having this intrinsic desire and passion for invention provided Adam with the perfect foundation for what was to become a long and highly successful career as a Patent Attorney. Having trained initially at a large private practice firm in London, and rolling the clock forward some thirty-plus years, Adam has built a solid reputation for the quality of his work, having been named by The Legal 500 in the past on several occasions.

It will be unsurprising that, having spent so long in the IP industry as a Patent Attorney in private practice, Adam has accumulated an enviable amount of experience covering a vast array of technical subject matter and intellectual property law, assisting clients from small start-ups to large multinationals with their IP strategies.

Adam has an extensive and intimate understanding of many key industry sectors and diverse fields including telecommunications, medical device technology, consumer products of many types, mechanical and heavy engineering, vehicle telematics, security, and software technologies including IoT.

In addition to patent drafting and prosecution, Adam provides clients with stewardship and advice on IP portfolio management and technology transfer. He undertakes and defends patent oppositions in the European Patent Office (EPO) and deals with patent enforcement in a number of countries. He frequently represents clients at oral proceedings at the EPO. Adam also advises clients on design law and copyright, including obtaining registered designs in the UK, EU and other countries.
