Following graduation, Dominic spent seven years working as a physicist in governmental research and development in areas such as electro-optics, lasers, displays, scene simulation, guidance, sensor systems and information analysis. Following this, Dominic joined an in-house intellectual property department for a high-profile Defence and Security research organisation where he gained his Chartered UK Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney qualifications, also becoming an intellectual property business partner.

Dominic has significant experience in patent drafting and prosecution, and he is familiar with communications, optical, antenna, sensing, image processing, and electronics technologies including electronic warfare and cybersecurity, in addition to mechanical and computer implemented inventions.

With first-hand experience in the cutting edge of the Defence and Security field including managing intellectual property up to and including classified status, Dominic is highly adept at translating how intellectual property can effectively enable business strategy, managing technology transfer through to licensing and value realisation.

Having joined Openshaw & Co in 2022, Dominic has also been instrumental in assisting our clients in successful patent registration covering telecommunications, wireless technologies, aerospace, video processing, power conversion and transmission technologies to name but a few.
