Obaidah Sheikh
European Patent Attorney
Obaidah holds a first-class master’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester. After graduating, he founded his own business and became an inventor in his own right, developing an innovative product and successfully securing patent protection for it. This experience not only inspired his career in the patent profession but also gave him valuable insight into the patent process from the perspective of both an inventor and a business owner. Today, that perspective helps him engage effectively with inventors and support clients ranging from early-stage businesses to multinational corporations.
Since joining the intellectual property profession in 2021, Obaidah has gained broad experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the UK Intellectual Property Office, the European Patent Office and patent offices internationally. His technical experience spans power electronics and distribution, control systems, telecommunications, the Internet of Things (IoT), medical devices, analytical instruments, electromagnetics, optics and jet engines.
Obaidah has expertise in software and computer-implemented inventions, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). His telecommunications work includes the prosecution of standard-essential patents (SEPs) relating to 5G and 6G technologies. He has also contributed to patent opposition proceedings and the preparation of infringement opinions.
Obaidah is a practising European Patent Attorney and is working towards qualification as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney.
